YELLOW HEAD BY JIANG JIE · NEW CHINA - OLD CHINA BY XUE SONG
ASTON MARTIN V8 VANTAGE · PHOTOGRAPHY BY René Staud
Jiang Jies sculpture “Yellow Head”, from 2002, is fabricated out of fiber glass and coated with a glossy varnish of oil paint. The stylised children’s head became a monumental sculpture (200 x 160 x 136 cm), which define its surroundings. At first glance it seems to be completely uniform, however, it emerges from a unique special effect on space, which is due to the single luminous colouring that completely dominates the surrounding area.
Jiang Jie was an exhibitor in the exhibition “China” which was held at the Duisburg MKM Museum Küppersmühle; and in the following exhibitions in Rome (MACRO), Budapest (Ludwig Museum), Bydgoszcz/Polen (State Gallery) and Palma, Mallorca (La Loncha).
