NOMADES BY QIN YUFEN

The beautiful Chinese territory of Fang Shan Du in the southwest of Beijing would be the perfect location for a temporary residence. The exotic topography with its high pyramidal mountains offers shelter and safety and it seems that those areas are predestinated for nomadic communities - tribes who are constantly moving without having a real home. Nomads stay in a specific location only temporarily, just as long as the surroundings are interesting to them. They are pioneers with a passion to discover new horizons. The Chinese artist Qin Yufen tried to symbolise the nomadic settlements by setting up bamboo pyramids in the Chinese scenery, approximately four meters high and five meters wide, which were covered by dyed silk. The western discoverers are on their way from the western hemisphere in order to explore the Asian environment and culture. The beautiful mountain scenery is showing the migrants under their provisional shelter and the deep shining colours of silk and breath-taking green giants in the back, in contrast with the blue sky, shows the real beauty of China; country waiting to be explored.
