I‘M ALIVE BY TONY CRAGG
ASTON MARTIN DB7· PHOTOGRAPHY BY René Staud
The sculptures of Tony Cragg possess a completely timeless quality. Smooth surface structure and voluptuous language of form, the pieces are as archaic as they are contemporary, transcending the dimension of date and time. This is sculpture in its purest sense, where form and surface actively shape the surrounding space.
Tony Cragg was born in Liverpool in 1949. An artist of great international acclaim and immense energy, he has probably explored more avenues in the making of sculpture than any other sculptor. His concerns are for humanity, its direction, the life of our planet and its projected evolution. Cragg’s contribution to the debate on contemporary sculpture practice has been considerable.
