30 ST MARY AXE BY NORMAN FOSTER
ASTON MARTIN DB9 · PHOTOGRAPHY BY René Staud
The nation of Great Britain has always been a place for progressive ideas which are ahead of their time. The imposing architecture of the so-called Gherkin was constructed by Sir Norman Foster and draws on many modern thoughts and concepts. The mix of glass and steel and its elegant spiral shape towers over the streets of London’s financial district and is reminiscent of the design of the streamlined DB9. The two sculpted forms have been merged to present contemporary masterpieces in terms of design, engineering and performance. The urban surroundings seem to give these elements a basic structure and, situated in front of a magnificent firmament, they reflect a kind of infinity for human development.
