CASCADE, GULLFoss
Unleashed cascades, hundreds of jumping springs so close together that the whole earth seems to be turning and roiling. Piece by piece the glacier river Hvita chiseled and ground out itself a high plateau, leaving behind deeply ground out furrows. This natural spectacle is called “the golden waterfall”. The river plunges in two stages into such a depth, furiously, unstoppable. The Gullfoss is probably the most well-known waterfall in the southwest - and also the most often photographed falls in Iceland. We also cannot deny the fascination of this flowing body of water – the closer we get the more we like it. In the beginning of the Twentieth Century, a power plant was planned to be built here. But a farmer’s daughter fought for the conversation of this incredible landscape, and that was a piece of luck for us too.
